Whyalla Pre-Employemnt Training
Programme
Local Training Response: Whyalla
A Pre-Employment Training project (PET) based in
Whyalla will support 50 local unemployed people into heavy industry
and mining focused pathways and employment while providing local
industry with a much needed human resource pool.
The project commenced on January 30th and will run
full time over a 20 week period delivering a combination of
classroom and practical competencies.
Local industry has helped to develop the training based on their
requirements. Companies such as HWE Mining and Skilled Group have
committed to participating in the project from competency selection
and information sessions to site tours.
Onesteel, HWE Mining and Skilled Group were also involved with
the selection and interview process; providing candidates with an
industry perspective and expectations.
